Females quake at Valentino's Sheik
Oct 31, 1921
The new sensation of the cinema is Rudolf Valentino of the flashing eyes. This glamorous Italian actor, who was born Rodolpho Guglielmi di
Valentina d'Antonguolla, is luring women back to see The Sheik again and again. Earlier this year he made his name as a "Latin Lover" in The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and now, in Arab headdress, and flowing robes, he invites a willing slave-girl played by Agnes Ayres, to "Fly with me - into another dawn". Men, it appears, do not like Valentino and critics describe The Sheik as "a shocker to set flappers blushing". They show no reluctance, however, to be shocked.
